Jared Galbut is Managing Principal of Menin Hospitality, a full service hospitality management company based in Miami Beach, Florida. He was literally born into the industry as the nephew of Russell Galbut, founder of Crescent Heights, one of the nation’s largest developers of high-rise, multifamily housing and hotels in Miami Beach. Jared started in the business at the early age of 15, working in acquisitions which later led him through school and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from University of Miami.
With an understandable love for the hospitality industry, Jared then took his skills acquired and relocated to Illinois to develop Raffaello Chicago. Throughout his role as Chicago’s youngest General Manager, Jared oversaw many of its pivotal moments during Chicago’s “build to boom” stage when the condo-hotel was recognized as the only fully sold-out property and one of only three condo-hotels to survive the market. The entire project included the renovation of 176 rooms, an impressive lobby facelift that claims original architectural details, restaurant, day spa, lobby bar, business center and gym.
While maintaining the success of this new venture, Jared sought out further opportunities in Miami Beach that naturally led to a partnership with cousin Keith Menin, also an emerging hotelier. Between the two of them and bringing forth an expertise from different facets of the industry, they acquired Sanctuary South Beach where they reinvented a nursing home into a chic 30-room, all-suite boutique hotel in 2005. This achievement and long-time vision, helped to then develop Menin Hotels, a full service hospitality management company with a mission to preserve yet modernize hotels and the overall hotel experience, initially in Miami Beach.
In late 2011, Menin Hotels invested in Shelborne South Beach for its legendary lineage and helped to preserve its history through a two-year, $20 million reconstruction in conjunction with the hotel’s 70th anniversary. Within only one year Menin Hotels continued the momentum and Gale South Beach & Regent Hotel opened its doors following a complete $35 million restoration. Originally built in 1941, the historic property is located in the heart of South Beach.
Though still keeping Chicago top-of-mind, Jared returned during the Summer of 2012 for the launch of Drumbar at Raffaello Chicago, a speakeasy-style lounge with an extensive cocktail menu and collection of fine bourbons, scotch and whiskey. Active for only seven months, Drumbar had successfully developed a national reputation as a hot-spot among locals and tourists, also voted “Best Bar in America” by Details magazine.
Jared boasts an untrained intuition for hospitality development in addition to more than a decade of extensive knowledge and experience in organizational and operational management. Jared has been given the ability to understand the importance of history, but look to the future as they continue to grow and expand. Presently, Jared oversees over five hotels under the Menin Hotels portfolio including Bentley South Beach, Sanctuary South Beach, Shelborne South Beach, Gale South Beach and Raffaello Chicago as well as its restaurants and nightlife such as Pizza Bar, Radio Bar and Drumbar Chicago.
In addition to Jared’s plans to bring his movement to other cities and countries he is locally involved as the President of the Miami Beach Tax Payers Association, Board of Directors Member for the Greater Miami Hospitality Association and a Member of the Miami Beach Convention Center Advisory Board.
